The Scenic South

Day 1 Arrive at Cape Town Airport via Johannesburg.  Transfer to hotel in Cape Town for overnight stay on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2 Proceed for a half-day Table Mountain and City Tour.  The tour takes you directly to the cableway and up the famous Table Mountain while the guide explains the varying flora & fauna.  Then proceed on the city tour, visiting the SA Museum, the Malay Quarter and the harbour.  Walk through the Castle and Greenmarket Square Fleamarket before driving through Sea Point back to hotel in Cape Town for overnight stay on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 3 Proceed for a full day Cape Point Tour.  Visit the famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens before travelling along the coast to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.  Board the Funicular to reach the hillcrest.  After lunch, continue for a visit to the Penguin Colony.  Return via Chapman’s Peak, Hout Bay, with a short stop at the harbour.  Transfer to hotel in Cape Town for overnight stay on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 4 Garden Route
Depart from Cape Town drive via the scenic Sir Lowry’s Pass and the apple orchards of Grabouw to the historic town of Swellendam.  Continue via the Tradouw and Huis Rivier Passes through the folded sandstone mountain range.  Experience the semi-desert areas of the Klein Karoo and visit the towns of Barrydale and Calitzdorp before arriving in the ‘ostrich capital’ Oudtshoorn.  Transfer to hotel in Oudtshoorn for overnight stay on dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

Day 5 Visit the famous Cango Caves.  Time permitting visit the Crocodile and Cheetah Ranch .  Continue to an Ostrich Farm for a guided tour.  Proceed to the Robinson Pass covered in Fynbos vegetation to Mossel Bay and visit the old ‘Post Office Tree’.  Transfer to hotel in Knysna for overnight stay on dinner, bed and breakfast basis.

Day 6  After breakfast, enjoy a lagoon cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve – enjoy a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head and a walk back through the milkwood trees for lunch (included). Depart for Plettenberg Bay and arrive at your hotel with the remainder of the afternoon at leisure to explore the area.  Transfer to hotel in Plettenberg Bay on bed & breakfast basis.

Day 7  Depart Plettenberg Bay and head eastwards, soon reaching the Tsitsikamma Mountains and indigenous forests. Continue to Port Elizabeth and upon arrival transfer to hotel for overnight stay on bed & breakfast basis.

Day 8  After breakfast transfer to the airport for flight to Durban.  Upon arrival at Durban Airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel.  Day at leisure.  Overnight stay on bed & breakfast basis. 

Day 9  Proceed for a full day Greater Durban Tour.  Drive along the Marine Parade; see the Rickshaw pullers and the Harbour.  Pass the Vasco da Gama Clock, the Sugar Terminal, University of Natal and the Botanical Gardens.  Spend some time bargaining at the colorful Indian Market.  After lunch, continue to Pinetown and the wealthy Kloof area to the magnificent Valley of 1000 hills.  Get introduced to the aged-old Zulu tradition: visit the beehive grass huts, see the witch doctor in her regalia and enjoy Zulu dancing.  Transfer to hotel in Durban for overnight stay on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 10  Transfer to Durban Airport for flight to Johannesburg.  Arrive at Johannesburg Airport.  Transfer to hotel in Johannesburg.  In the afternoon proceed for a half day Johannesburg City Tour.  This tour brings to the Top of Africa at the Carlton Centre passing Hillbrow en route.  Visit the historical buildings of downtown, the Stock Exchange and De Beers.  Proceed to the arty suburb of Melville & return via the Emmarentia Gardens & Rosebank.  Transfer to hotel in Johannesburg for overnight stay on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 11  Shuttle transfer to Sun City.  Arrive Sun City and transfer to hotel for overnight stay on bed and breakfast basis

Day 12  Full day at leisure to enjoy the many amenities of Sun City.  Overnight stay at hotel in Sun City on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 13  Shuttle transfer to hotel in Johannesburg for overnight stay on bed and breakfast basis.

Day 14  Transfer to Johannesburg Airport for return or onward flight.

Day 9 Transfer to Johannesburg Airport for return or onward flight.
