Murchison
Falls National Park
This is the largest park in Uganda. The park is renowned for its
scenic beauty and the spectacular falls. The diversity of the park
attracts carnivores , chimpanzees, Cape buffalo and a lot of plain game. The falls offer a spectacular view from the top where
the River Nile narrows from 50 metres to crash through a 7 metre gorge,
falling 45 metres to the rocks below. The cruise to the base of the
falls is a must, whereby one can see crocodiles, hippos and different species
of birds which cannot be found in other game parks in Uganda. Guided
walking and bird watching safaris are highly recommended.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
It is one of the outstanding treasures of Uganda. The 2000 sq.
kms. Of the park offers a remarkable variety of Eco-system, from semi-
decidious tropical forest to green meadows, savannahs and swamps.
It is the home of the famous tree climbing lions, the Uganda kob, the plain
animals, elephants, buffalo, baboons, chimpanzees and over 500 species
of bird life. The launch trip along the Kazinga channel between Lakes
George & Edward offers a memorable view of the game found in the park.
Bwindi Impenetrable & Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks
Both of these parks are located in south- western Uganda. Half
the world's population of mountain gorillas is found in these two parks.
The vegetation is comprised of tropical rain forest with dense undergrowth,
forest belt and bamboo zone. This terrain makes gorilla treking exciting
and also a variety of animals & birds are found in both the parks.
Over 200 species of butterflies are found in the Bwindi park. The
gorillas frequent these parks only 6 months in a year and 4-6 months advance
bookings are recommended as the park authorities issues limited entry passes
for these parks to view the gorillas.
